Magpie Skull & Pearl Necklace

A one-of-a-kind wearable artwork made with a real magpie skull, set in translucent resin with gold-coloured leaf and freshwater pearls hand-strung on double silk thread.

The skull was found at a flea market in Brighton. It is part of my Not Lost but Found collection: works made from objects that have already had a life before reaching me.

I work with found materials by respecting and honouring what they already are. This necklace holds the skull carefully and makes its form wearable, while keeping its own character intact.

Freshwater pearls and gold-coloured leaf bring softness and lightness to the piece. Each pearl is individually knotted on silk thread, and the pendant hangs from a small ring attached to the necklace.
